A lush green island of 800 sq. metres. set amidst non-polluted organic farmland of more than 120,000 sq. metres, next to the Jawai Bandh Leopard Reserve covering more than 98 sq. kilometers. The reserve notified by the GOI in 2010 it is not just a habitat for leopards, but also several species of migratory birds, crocodiles, chinkara, sloth bears, and wolves. If that isn’t idyllic, what is?
Seasonal vegetables like radish, carrots, beet root, chillies, zucchini, bottle gourd, okra, and greens like spinach, corriander, ‘bathua’ are grown regularly inside the circular compound to prepare food served to the guests. There are also fruit bearing trees of gooseberry (aamla), pomegrenate, Indian blueberry (jamun), Gumberry (lisoda)and and Sapota (Chickoo) apart from Neem & Teak trees.
The house itself is built along the organic principle of ” 80% of the material to be sourced locally within 80 kilometers” thus maintaining the conceptual integrity of the overall project. The thick stone walls, high roof with clearstorey ventilation, and large windows for cross ventillation make it comfortable to stay in all along the year. The modern bathrooms have hot & cold running water.
